Karol Olszewski

Olszewski was a graduate of Kazimierz Brodziński High School in Tarnów (Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Kazimierza Brodzińskiego). He studied at Kraków's Jagiellonian University in the departments of mathematics and physics, and chemistry and biology. He carried out his first experiments using a personally improved compressor, compressing and condensing carbon dioxide.

Africa Hydrogen

Africa: The continent of Africa borders the southern half of the Mediterranean Sea. Africa is the world's second-largest and second-most populous continent. At about 30.3 million km2 including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of Earth's total surface area and 20% of its land area. With 1.3 billion people as of 2018, it accounts for about 16% of the world's human population. The Atlantic Ocean is to the west and the Indian Ocean is to the Southeast. Africa stretches well south of the equator to cover more than 12 million square miles making Africa the world's second largest continent. The continent includes Madagascar and various archipelagos.

Why everyone’s talking about hydrogen

What is all the excitement about?
Hydrogen Innovations - Renewable energy can and will decarbonise power generation. Renewable energy and batteries can and will decarbonise the automotive sector. But these technologies will not be as viable for aviation, shipping, commercial vehicles, steel or fertiliser manufacturing. In all of these vital industries it looks as though hydrogen will be needed, or at least that hydrogen will be one of the most viable solutions, for decarbonisation.

Hydrogen Innovations News - The discovery of hydrogen atoms on the TiO2 surface is crucial for many practical applications, including photocatalytic water splitting.

Hydrogen Innovations News - Electricity production by renewable sources such as solar, wind and tidal hydraulics now offers the most promising solutions to our current energy demands, taking a clean environment into consideration1. However, the electricity produced directly from renewable sources, such as wind and solar, may be negatively impacted by fluctuations in relevant geographical factors, such as cloud cover and low winds2. This then leads to an interrupted supply of the renewable energy, hence renewable energy must be stored and then used on demand for specific applications2. Among the various energy storage technologies, storage in the form of hydrogen is considered most preferable, due to the ability to store large amounts of energy for short and long periods of time, which can be decoupled upon demand3.
